Facial aging

The unavoidable process of facial aging is highlighted by loss of volume and thinning of skin resulting in less youthful contours and deeper folds. A tired and aging face is often distressing as people feel much younger on the inside than they look on the outside. In your consultation, Dr. Malotky will discuss options to address your concerns without the dreaded “overdone” look.

Face lift-NECK LIFT

A face lift is a surgical procedure designed to re-suspend the underlying facial structures creating more youthful contours and fullness. Specifically addressed are the jawline, nasolabial folds and the cheek hollowing. Similarly, a neck lift helps address cervical bands and excess skin (turkey neck) while improving the profile and defining the mandibular contour. Often these procedures are combined to help recreate elegant facial harmony. There are a variety of techniques Dr. Malotky employs to achieve his natural and lasting results as no one technique is suitable to address every patient. Some of these techniques include “short scar,” “SMASectomy,” “SMAS Plication,” “Platysmal Window,” and “Corset Platysmaplasty” to name a few.

Brow lift

As we age, the forehead tends to elongate and the brow descends. This leads to overcompensation of the frontalis muscle creating excessive horizontal wrinkles and a stressed or surprised look. When consciously relaxing, the droopy brow pushes the upper eyelid skin down, causes hooding, and can even obstruct vision. The overreaction of the body to its own aging can cause headaches and a tired feeling because of the constant muscle activation. A brow lift is a surgical procedure that repositions the brow in its correct anatomic location obviating the need for frontalis muscle activation and relieving the excess weight on the upper eyelids. This can be accomplished through an open or endoscopic approach and Dr. Malotky can explain why one technique may be preferred over the other.

The volume of the face is made up of many small compartments of fat. As we age the volume composition of fat changes with loss of the youthful fat in the cheeks and an overabundance of fat under the chin. Liposculpture is a technique whereby fat is removed from unwanted areas (i.e. turkey neck) and replaced in a more ideal location (cheeks). Together, this process of addition and subtraction can perform a standalone transformation or act as a lovely compliment to a face or neck lift.

Otoplasty, or ear surgery, is a procedure to change the shape, position or size of the ears. It can correct a defect in the ear structure that is present at birth, or it can treat misshapen ears caused by injury. The goal of an otoplasty is to create a more natural shape while bringing balance and proportion to the ears and face.
